Youth clubs, also known as JOOI clubs, are sponsored by adult Optimist Clubs. Their structure operates independently of Optimist clubs, they make their own decisions and have their own board of directors. They also have distinct programs and the Torch Newsletter which is designed entirely for them.
JOOI members are full of energy and have a real desire to change the world around them, hence their motto, “Kids helping kids”. In addition, there are many things which are of concern to today’s kids, making them a precious resource for Optimist clubs that devote themselves to kids.
You can read the message from the JOOI International President, Marie-Pier Tremblay by clicking here. For the second year in a row, it has been a Canadian girl holding the office of international president.
Consult the club directory to find out if a club exists in your region. If there aren’t any, you can contact your local Optimist club to build one based on the needs of your community.
